Understanding the Pelvic Floor

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that form a supportive hammock across the base of the pelvis. These muscles play a critical role in supporting the bladder, bowel, and uterus. They also assist in maintaining continence, stabilizing the spine, and enhancing sexual function. Weakness, tightness, or dysfunction in these muscles can lead to discomfort or reduced quality of life.
