Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis) Treatment in Edmonton

Tennis elbow, medically known as lateral epicondylitis, is a common overuse injury caused by repetitive stress to the forearm muscles and tendons that attach to the outside of the elbow. It doesn’t just affect tennis players—anyone performing repeated wrist and arm motions may be at risk.

The condition often affects the extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB) muscle, leading to tiny tears in the tendon and causing inflammation, pain, and a weakened grip.

Common activities that may lead to tennis elbow include:

  • Tennis, squash, and other racquet sports

  • Swimming and golfing

  • Using tools like screwdrivers or hammers

  • Typing or prolonged mouse use

  • Repeated lifting or twisting of the wrist

Symptoms of Tennis Elbow:

  • Gradual onset of pain on the outside of the elbow

  • Pain radiating into the forearm and wrist

  • Weak grip strength

  • Discomfort when shaking hands, lifting objects, or opening jars

  • Increased pain with repetitive movements

At RelievePhysio in Edmonton, we use targeted physiotherapy techniques to relieve pain, improve mobility, and prevent re-injury. Our personalized treatment plans may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, taping, and ergonomic advice to get you back to pain-free living.
