Lower Back Pain & Sciatica Treatment in Edmonton

Lower back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints, affecting nearly 80% of individuals at some point in their lives. It can be mild or severe, and may significantly affect your mobility, sleep, and daily activities.

Back pain is often caused by one or more of the following conditions:

  • Muscle strain or ligament sprain

  • Herniated disc

  • Degenerative disc disease

  • Arthritis

  • Spinal trauma

  • Facet joint dysfunction

  • Sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction

  • Spinal stenosis

  • Poor posture and movement habits

Sciatica is a specific type of nerve-related back pain that radiates from the lower back down the leg. It occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed or irritated, often due to a herniated disc, spinal stenosis, piriformis syndrome, or spondylolisthesis.

Common symptoms of sciatica include:

  • Sharp or burning pain radiating from the buttock to the leg

  • Numbness or weakness in the leg or foot

  • Pins and needles or tingling sensations in the toes

  • Pain that worsens with movement, sitting, or standing

  • In rare cases, bowel or bladder incontinence (medical emergency)

At RelievePhysio, we create personalized physiotherapy plans to target the root cause of your pain. Treatments may include spinal mobilization, posture correction, strengthening exercises, core stabilization, and patient education to help prevent recurrence.
